Yandex means business: launches sitesearch

Yandex is already the biggest in Russia, which by the way is Europe's 4th largest Internet market according to Quintura. But Yandex wants to keep on growing. That's why they launched a new feature: sitesearch.

With a piece of embedded code any website owber can now put Yandex.site on their website, making the site searchable. And it can be profitable too. When part of the Yandex Advertising Network you get 50% of revenue from clicks to Yandex search ads displayed alongside search results.

The search will automatically appear on all the pages in the domain so site owners hardly have to do anything. Website owners can adjust some things though. They can specify the addresses of sites that will implement the search, adjust the appearance and adjust the design.

"Self organizing the search on a site can be quite difficult," says Yandex' head of service Mikhail Senin. "Yandex offers webmasters several solutions which can be used even by novice webmasters".

Yandex' competitor Quintera immediately repsonded by trying to explain that "the Quintura’s site search can be better monetized by using search ads from contextual advertising services of Begun and Yandex as well as Quintura own ads from direct advertisiers.". So Russians now have a choice.
