Yandex and ICQ team up in Russia

Russia is part of Europe, but when it comes to the web it's a whole different story. Not Google is the biggest dominance there, but Yandex. And when it comes to Instant Messaging its not MSN Messenger, not Yahoo Talk or Gtalk, but good old ICQ which leads the dance.

Now these two Russian giants have joined forces. They released their first co-branded client, Yandex ICQ, otherwise known as ICQ 6.5.

The downloadable client software integrates Yandex services like search, traffic, weather and more with the ICQ chat functionality and features like online games and free sms.

Before Yandex ICQ had a partnership with Rambler Media, a Russian internet service and media company. With Yandex ICQ hopes to get a much bigger audience interested in their already popular service.
