Yandex improves image search

Where Microsoft already had a nice image search and added some features just a couple of weeks ago and where Google is improving their image search continuasly the Russian search giant Yandex couldn't stay behind.

Yandex introduces a new search algorithm for their images. The system they are using has been in use since 2001, but they changed the algoritm to improve that system.

Yandex now shows pictures when a query includes the word "photo" or "image". It also includes the most popular images on a search term.

The Russian engine now has 2% of their queries running on this new algorithm but will be expanding soon.
