Yandex copies Google’s personalized search suggestions Yandex, the most popular search engine in Russia, added a new feature to its search. When typing in a search query, the user will now get suggestions based on their previous searches along with the other popular suggestions, Yandex reported on its blog on February 7th. By coincidence or not, Yandex’s personal search suggestions look exactly like those in Google – even the color is the same. Check out the screenshots: Yandex   This feature is available only to users with Yandex accounts (mail and other services) and can be turned off in the settings, for example, when sharing a computer. What do you think of such straightforward copycatting? Does anyone know how to turn off all personalization in Yandex to track search rankings objectively? In Google searches, you can add pws=0 to the query parameters, and that will do the trick. Is there something similar for Yandex?

Richard, you can try turning off the personalized search suggestions on this page http://help.yandex.ru/search/?id=1113774 and changing your location setting to 'do not track' here http://tune.yandex.ru/region/?retpath=http://yandex.ru%2Fyandsearch%3Fdomredir%3D1%26text%3D - as far as I know, the rest of personalized resulte are under My Findings (Мои находки), so if you don't use this service, the search results should be objective
