And there goes #1: Pipes loses Term Extractor Module

When Yahoo and Microsoft announced their partnership the last person at the press conference to be asking a question was Danny Sullivan. "Mr Search" asked about all the Yahoo tools: what was going to happen with them? The answer Bartz and Ballmer gave was very political: it wasn't really an answer.

In the days after the announcement speculation started about what the future of apps like Delicious and Flickr would be, but more important for SEO's: what is going to happen with all the handy data, tools and modules Yahoo delivers. Most thought of scenario: Microsoft will either kill the services or monetize them. This Tuesday a first module lost its support: Yahoo announced they'll be discontinuing the Term Extractor module.

The Term Extractor module was part of Yahoo Pipes. With the module you can get significact words and prhases extracted from lots of content on your website.

The closing of the Term Extractor module is due to the closing of Yahoo's Term Extraction web service. The service will be terminated at the end of August.

Is this the first of many services which will be closing in the forthcoming years? Or was this a long time coming?
