Popular points of interest on Yahoo Image Search

If you are planning your holiday trip for this summer if you want you can see everything you are going to see before you've even left your home.

If you have explored Photosynth and if you are done with trying out the photosynth-like features Google just added to Streetview be sure to head over to Yahoo. They have now added popular points of interest to theur Image Search, allowing you to see photos from the destinations. With Yahoo adding Flickr pictures to their searches this off course is an interesting source.

Yahoo also wants to give you more contextual information about your destination. When doing a search for a destinations tabs are presented on the left hand side with popular destinations in the neighbourhoud. For example below is the search for Rome, which gives back destinations like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain.

When clicking on one of the tabs you will find images related to the destination, without leaving your original search results page.

For now its only available for location-specific searches, but Yahoo wants to expand to other types soon.
