Yahoo! sued over Premier League fixtures In the UK Yahoo! Is being sued by the British Football authorities. Yahoo is publishing the fixtures of the games in the English Premier League, other English leagues and the Scottish Premier League on its website without permission. Yahoo is being accused of “infringing their copyright and database rights.”. If it’s up to the Football Association wants Yahoo! to stop publishing the fictures and says Yahoo! will have to pay up for “unlimited damages”. According to the FA Yahoo are not licensed to publish the fixtures. The fixtures are scheduled by Atos Origin and then checked by the FA and the clubs to see if there are no ‘issues’. Only then the fixtures will be released in a press release. Only parties with a paid license can publish the fixtures. It’s not clear whether or not the fixtures on the website which are published in cooperation with Eurosport are part of the dispute. Yahoo however acknowledges there are issues: “We can confirm that Yahoo! UK is engaged in an ongoing legal dispute with the FA Premier League in relation to the use of football fixtures.” ![]() Comment |

I remember having an e-mail from British Football authorities when I ran a site for my team back when I was a teenager, good to see that they'll go after the big boys too!
