Yahoo's starts yodeling...?

Yahoo is rolling out their new marketing campaign which is all based around Y!ou. In the campaign they've made a remarkable next step. Today they announce Yodel Studio. This could either give Yahoo a real marketing boost, but it does seem like a bit of a strange direction to be heading.

On the site you can record yourself yodeling. Yahoo will use the recordings to emix the service’s signature sound. Each yodel submitted will also make Yahoo give away up to  $130,000 for local and global charities.

If you are in London (outside Europe you can go to New York or Mumbai) you can visit live events Yahoo is setting up. Today in London professional recording booths will be set up. Yahoo has even got celebrities to join in to help you with your yodeling.

But you can also send in your yodel through the website. You can even insert background tracks. There are already some interesting yodels made and posted.

So will Yahoo pull this off? It could be a hit, but could also backfire.

  • This completely makes sense for Yahoo!

If you live in the US for example, Yahoo is known for its 'yodel' within their advertising campaigns.

Ever tried clicking the exclamation mark at the end of the Yahoo! logo? ;)
