Yahoo changes gears: it's about Y!ou Yahoo is supposed to be integrating with Bing, but in the meanwhile is very busy updating and improving their services and branding. You would think Yahoo has started a new life. Yesterday Yahoo announced their upcoming branding campaign: Y!ou. Starting Monday they will be launching this campaign in which they try to be at the center of people's online lives. An not just that, they added video calling to Yahoo! Messenger, deployed some new mobile apps and last but not least, they changed their searchpage to look more like Google.
Yahoo has always been filled with text, images and a lot of links. Yahoo really aimed on being a portal. Well, not anymore, at least not on the search page. The new Yahoo searchpage is a copy of Google's homepage (didn't they patent that recently?) with just the Yahoo branding on it. ![]() The new format is being rolled out in he U.S., U.K., France, Spain, Mexico, and India. There you can see the new way of presenting the image and video results as well as the renewed CSS which, because of the rebuilt, loads a lot faster than before. Meanwhile Yahoo will be branding themselves with the core message YOU. "Yahoo! really is all about you — we’re constantly evolving to give you more of what you want and less of what you don’t. We want you to make the Web your own and are designing products to put you in the driver’s seat of your Internet experience. Our new brand positioning reflects that." says Elisa Steel, Chief Marketing officer on the Yahoo corporate blog. ![]() The campaign will kick off in the US and reach the UK in October. The rest of the world will have to wait until 2010.
