Facebook rolling out new search to everyone

Shortly after Facebook announced it is acquiring Friendfeed and taking over all employees, including the developers, the Facebook development team announced it will be rolling out the new Search version on Facebook to all users.

Facebook has been testing the new search for the last month on a small group. Now the entire community will be able to search trough status updates, photos, links, videos and friends' notes. But note: it's only the last 30 days you can search.

Facebook has added filters which are placed on the left side of the search result page. Filters include People, Pages, Groups, Applications, Events, Web Results, Posts by Friends and Posts by everyone.

If your profile is public it will be 'indexed' and can therefore be found, if its not it will be only available when one of your friends is searching. You can also control what is being shared and what is searchable in your privacy settings.
