Twitter advertising for small businesses

On Monday, March 26th, Twitter announced that small businesses could advertise on Twitter using promoted tweets and promoted accounts. Here's how it works:

Promoted Accounts are recommended to potentially interested users in the ‘Who to follow’ area

Promoted Tweets option allows interesting tweets to rise in search results

Advertisers pay per follower on Promoted Accounts and per engagement (click, retweet, reply or favorite) with Promoted Tweets.

According to the company, at first the service will be available only for a small number of companies which are American Express merchants and Cardmembers, but Twitter is planning to open this opportunity for more businesses.
