Starbucks valentine’s magic cup
Starbucks, the coffee giant has been committed to mobile technologies for more than one year already. For example, it introduced a mobile payment app early last year, which has been used for more than 26 million transactions. In addition, Starbucks also introduced QR codes on in-store items last October.
It is almost Valentine’s Day. How can Starbucks miss this chance for its mobile app? If you have visited Starbucks recently, then you might have seen some cups with cute hearts, which are designed to celebrate the lovely festival. All these hearts are also part of a mobile augmented reality program. Starbucks has updated its Cup Magic iPhone and Android app since February 6th. until the Valentine’s Day.
Starbucks is also enjoying the increased profits which mobile technology has brought to them. In the company’s most recent quarter, sales increased 16%. What’s more, its profits rose 10%. Both increases were the biggest rise since the recession began. According to REUTERS, it also plans to start offering wine and beer in some select locations – Atlanta, Southern California.
