Facebook is conquering Europe

Turkey is not 'officially' part of the EU and also part of Asia, but it is part of Europe. And not just that, it is the country which has the fastest growing Facebook community in Europe. The Turks lead the way be before Italy and France.

In the top ten which was presented by Insidefacebook the Turks saw an increase of 8% over the last month. They now have almost 14,5 million Facebook users. This is in total almost 2 million more then the French. The UK still has the biggest share with over 20 million users.

The list shows that the biggest increase over the last month can be seen in Germany (14% growth), Austria (als 14%) and the Netherlands (13%). The growth in these markets is remarkable because they have a history of having their own social networks (Xing and Hyves for example) being leading. Facebook however seems to be taking back some ground on those networks.

With these numbers Europe as a whole has got more Facebook users than all of the US: 98.2 million monthly actives in Europe against 88.3 million monthly actives in the United States.
