YouTube gives more insight in statistics
YouTube wants to give its users more insights into how a video is doing. With that they hope to get more returning customers.
Insights helps the owner of the video determine how popular the video is, not just in ratings, but also with links and views.
YouTube added some other features to it as well. On their blog YouTube says:
"In addition to rankings, you can also learn about demographics, discovery sources and other metrics for videos that you've claimed, and then compare them to your own uploads. Do the audience demographics of a claimed video differ from those of the official version? What websites or search terms drive the most traffic to user uploaded versions of your content? We think integrating Content ID and Insight can help answer questions like these and will be very helpful as you think about distributing, marketing and making money from your content online."
The insights should help in getting more out of video in terms of traffic. It makes it more easy to test what works and what doesn't. YouTube aims at the media companies with this change to make it "an effective way for media companies to control, promote and monetize their content on our site".
