Kaushik: 'Analytics is a 3 year old baby'

Third up in the series of SEO Roadshow interviews is Avinash Kuashik. Joost got to talk to him at the 'Webanalytics congres' in Hollland this July. You can listen to the podcast here.

Kaushik is the writer of the book 'Web Analytics: An Hour A Day'. According to his linkedin page Kaushik helps “Fortune 100 companies make the most of their analytics strategies”.

In his job as a 'Analytics Evangelist' at Google he travels around the world, spreading his 'story' to everyone who wants to hear it. Off course Google Analytics plays a big part in what he has to say.

The interview done by Joost is the third in a series Kaushik did that day. Ton Wesseling and Eduard also did their interviews which you can hear at their own blogs.

Some quotes from the interview:

About the difference between paid and free analytictools: “The job of the free guys is to make the life of the paid guys harder.”

About choosing the right marketing channel: “Search is dominant without exception”

About the choice of outsourcing: “If you don’t know anything: start with a consultant, start with somebody you trust”

About the changes analytics is going through: “Analytics is a baby, it’s a 3-year old.”
