Kevin Ryan: "There are no simple answers"

The first episode of the SEO Roadshow series is an interview with one of the bigger names in the Search-industry: Kevin Ryan. Joost de Valk interviewed him in Amsterdam. You can listen to the podcast.

Kevin Ryan is “global content director” for Search Engine Strategies (SES) en Search Engine Watch. He is responsible for organising the Search Engine Strategies - events throughout the world. Ryan's star has risen fast, especcially considering his relative young age.

In his career Ryan worked for, amongst others, Wahlstrom Interactive en Kinetic Results. He publishes a lot of articles on search on websites like Searchenginewatch and Imediaconnection.

Moving towards SES Hamburg Joost de Valk talked to Ryan in Cafe Americain in Amsterdam about the current state of the search world. Joost and Kevind talked for example about the difference between Europe and the US-search markets, the possible take over off Yahoo by Microsoft and the influence of the Chinese market. Finally Kevin handed us some must read websites.

Some quotes from the interview:

“The internet has yet to proof itself as a visual medium, that's going to take a couple of years”
"There are no simple answers"
“What I find interesting is Google's strategy”
“What's missing is healthy competition”
“Chinese people are very enterprising”
