Got a shop? Optimize your opening times!
If you have a shop it would be a smart move to optimize your webpage on which you place your opening times.
Goad concludes that ‘opening times’ related searches are a missed opportunity for retailers and affiliates. A third of peoples searching for ‘good Friday opening times’ didn't click on a SERP-link which indicates they didn't find what they are looking for.
When taking a look at Google Trends and Google Insights the findings of Hitwise are confirmed. There is a relatively high percentage of users searching for opening times in Europe. Shops however aren't opmitized for it at all.
A search on some of the major shops in several European countries returned surprisingly bad results for the 'main brands'.
We took a test in the Netherlands. The search term "Openingstijden 'brandname'" gave back terrible results for four of the bigger 'brands' in Holland:
HEMA: not in first ten results
Albert Heijn: not in first ten results
V&D: not in first ten results
Blokker: not in first ten results
Even with a name of a city included the websites didn't show up in the results. This when the average searchvolume in a small country like Holland for "openingstijden" (openinghours in Dutch) is almost 675.000 a month.
Conclusion: start optimizing your opening hours pages!
