Real time Twitter Search in Google

First, one wondered when Twitter would finally implement search on their website. Then they bought Summize. Next, people started talking about why Google wasn't giving us Real Time results. The discussion was even if Google would be threatened by Twitter because of the lack of real time search results.

Services like Twingly profit from this gap in Google Search. After all, if you 'Google' for a subject you won't get results back from any of the webs' microblogs.

Google is without a doubt working on this and we will get real time results in Google I'm sure. But for now we have to rely on those who just do it themselves. Like MT Hack's Mark Carey who "decided to get realtime twitter search results on Google today".

Using a Greasemonkey script he shows the five most recent tweets for the query you are searching for.

I must say, it works like a charm and really is an add on. For those who use Chrome there is also a solution by using GreaseMetal and there is more help in the comments of the original post for those who don't want the results at the top of the page.

Setting it up is really easy:

1. If you don't already have it, install the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox.

2. Click the "Install" button on the "Twitter Search Results on Google" page on userscripts.org.
