Online Search Behaviour in Portugal The Portuguese now spend, in average, €220, everytime they buy something online. This is one of the conclusions of a recent study done by Google Portugal. Done in the third semester of 2008 and with a total of 2.025 people envolved, this study is the first one done by Google Portugal and reveals data for this country that was previously unknown. These were the most interesting conclusions:
On average those who search online spend the most money (€220), and those who search online and buy offline spend only €192 in average. A "normal" search offline leads to an offline buy of only €94 in average. According to Google Portugal's Country Manager, Paulo Barreto, this implies people are more rigorous during a recession period, spending more time doing their "homework" on the computer before spending their money. This further proves the importance of a good online presence for any company - reinforces Barreto.
