Google big winner in Europe Google and YouTube are the big winners in the Website of the year contest which was hosted in several countries at the same time. In Europe Google is the most popular search engine in every country. Youtube is the most appreciated media sharing site in every country. Except for in Holland and Germany also wins it when it comes to being the best portal site with iGoogle. There were only a few 'surprises' in the categories where Google was one of the nominated possibilities. In Holland Symbaloo, which also surprisingly won in the US, is seen as the best portal site, while the Germans chose webmiles.de in the same categorie. It was surprising to see that in the UK Everyclick.com beat Google in the categorie "Best search & find site". In the community-categorie there was no winning Google-product. Netlog is most popular in France and Spain, while Habbo won in Italy and Holland (Best community, with Hyves most popular). In the UK Wayn.com wins it while Xing is still big in Germany.
