No more Lycos in EuropeIt used to be one of the biggest portals in Europe. Search Engine Lycos, owned by Bertelsmann/Telefonica, is no more. At least, will be no more. The owners decided they want to sell. They are selling Lycos Europe in different pieces, but still want to receive a total of 50 million Euros for the once one of the biggest search engines in Europe. The news was received in the German media with a lot of sceptics. The media think because of the financial crisis Bertelsmann will never get the wanted amount of money. Lycos used to be one of the major search engines in Europe, but because of the ever growing popularity of Google they switched to being a portal. Especcially the chat-functionality made the website popular. Lycos still has to get approvement of its stock-owners. They will decide on that December 12th in Amsterdam. CommentRelated tweets
