UK wants to recycle mobile phones Are Brits getting more involved with the environment? It's a conclusion you can't make out of the numbers Hitwise provides, but these numbers might be an indication. And Hitwise' numbers show that in one year, since may 2008, searches such as ‘recycle mobile phones’, ‘mobile phone recycling’ and ‘phone recycling’ increased by 189%. With the increasing searches came the increasing websites that specialize in providing the service of recycling mobile phones. Visits to these kind of websites increased with 205%. The increase of searches related to recycling mobile phones do not just come from a greater believe in evironmental issues. The financial crisis does play a big part. searches for terms such as ‘recycle mobile phones for cash’ and ‘recycling for cash’ have quadrupled in the same period. In general, so also searches not related to mobile phones, searches for recylcing have incresed 70% in the last year. Mobile does plat a big part in this though. ![]() Comment |
