And Hitwise' numbers show that in one year, since may 2008, searches such as ‘recycle mobile phones’, ‘mobile phone recycling’ and ‘phone recycling’ increased by 189%. With the increasing searches came the increasing websites that specialize in providing the service of recycling mobile phones. Visits to these kind of websites increased with 205%. The increase of searches related to recycling mobile phones do not just come from a greater believe in evironmental issues. The financial crisis does play a big part. searches for terms such as ‘recycle mobile phones for cash’ and ‘recycling for cash’ have quadrupled in the same period.
