Facebook most searched for brand in UK

Though Facebook is the second largest site in the UK, after Google, there are still a lot of people who need Google to get to Facebook.

Hitwise tells us that during the 12 weeks ending 3 January 2009, 1 in every 42 Internet searches in the UK included the term ‘facebook'. The social networksite got 52% more searches than the second most searched for brand YouTube.

What is noticable is that from the top five the BBC is the only one not to be Internet specific. After the  top five more 'offline' brands show up.

The ten most searched for brands by UK Internet users (ranked by market share of UK Internet searches, 12 weeks ending 3 January 2009):

1. Facebook (2.39%)
2. YouTube (1.57%)
3. eBay (1.25%)
4. Bebo (0.96%)
5. BBC (0.86%)
6. Amazon (0.47%)
7. Argos (0.44%)
8. Sky (0.27%)
9. Tesco (0.26%)
10. Yahoo! (o.26%)

  • Vlad and I had a chance to see a wide variety of bags from the Chanel Spring 2015 collection this past week, and we wanted to share the details. The beauty of these bags is in the small things you might miss; the cutouts, the leather, the tweed, the colors, the embellishments.
