Let's Share the Ride Toogethr!
It is almost time for a summer holiday! Have you planned your vacation yet? Europe trip is a nice option for this summer, especially by car! But fuel prices can be very expensive for a long ride; or maybe you do not even have a car! Hitchhiking perhaps? Try Toogethr: an app where you can find a person to share a ride to your holiday destination!
Toogethr is an online service that allows you to, according to their site, “quickly, flexibly, economically”, and also sustainably share rides, or what nowadays is called carpooling. Toogethr offers you a platform where you are able to offer a ride or request a ride, either for free or cost-share, using your smart phone! User accounts are linked to Facebook profiles in such a way that both driver and passengers may choose their travel partner carefully beforehand.
Toogethr was founded by a Dutch entrepreneur Martin Voorzanger and was launched recently in January 2012. According to his interview on Top Names, the idea of Toogethr popped out after seeing that almost 85% cars in the Netherlands carry only one person in a car during peak hours daily! Not a very smart move, he added, seeing how much fuel and energy we can save by carrying more people in the car!
Euro Championship 2012
Every football maniac knows that Euro Championship 2012 starts this Friday! In the spirit of Euro Championship 2012, Toogethr has launched a feature called naarek.nl for Dutch loyal supporters to carpool to Poland or Ukraine! Below is the example of a user who offers a seat in his car from Amsterdam to Ukraine on June 14th for €375! (Actually, it is a very expensive price for a car ride! According to my Ukrainian colleague, Tamara Yadvichuk, normally the price for a flight from Amsterdam to Kiev is €150, if you book it in advance for non-high season days!)
