Runet audience has grown to 57,8 million users Last week it was announced that the audience of the Russian-speaking part of the Internet has grown to 57,8 million people, which is 15% higher than the last year. Currently Russia ranks 6th in number of users. By the end of 2014 the number will grow to 80 million users per month, according to Sergei Plugotarenko, president of the Association of Electronic Communications of Russia at the Russian Internet conference RIF+KIB 2012. The volume of the market in 2011 was 42 billion rubles (or 1.08 billion euro), with 54% growth compared to 2010. The volume of e-commerce has increased by 30% and reached 310 billion rubles (7.97 billion euro). The sphere of online games has shown very rapid growth – 171% - and makes up 7 billion rubles (179 million euro). According to RIA news’ information from Sergei Plugotarenko, users of Runet have become more active online; 99% of them make use of different social networks. As we can see, the Russian online market is growing really fast. This fact should be taken into account by companies that want to enter new markets.
