Top Google Search Trends in UK: Facebook, BBC and YouTube

It's that time of the year again. The search engines start publishing their "most searched for in 2009" lists. Most of them (like Bing's list) are however very US focussed. Luckily there are always sites willing to look beyond that. According to Techradar Google announced their top search trends by using Google Trends.

Facebook, BBC an YouTube were the top searches for 2009 in the UK and very interesting, in the "fastest rising" list "Bing" takes up the ninth spot.

Google spokesman Anthony House said:

"Britons had mixed feelings as they headed online this year to search for their favourite online tools, to learn about celebrities new and old, and to find a good bargain. People searched about new sensations like Lady Gaga and Susan Boyle, but they also turned to the web to learn about the deaths of Stephen Gately, Jade Goody and Michael Jackson."
