Bas van den Beld, Roy Huiskes and Eduard Blacqueire had their monthly talk again about what went on in Search in the Netherlands. A week late, so there were some September topics discussed also.

As usual the three Dutchmen talked about three topics: the failed redesign of a Dutch newspaper website, Admarkt Mini's and finally a people search engine.

Dutch newspaper forgets to add search to their process

The Dutch newspaper AD restyled their website in a format their new owners already used in Belgium. They however forgot to put search into the process and lost lots of links, pages and visitors.

Marktplaats starts with AdMarket Mini

Hollands' own e-Bay, one of the biggest sites in the Netherlands, Marktplaats, is starting to use AdMarket Mini's. These are Adwords-like adverts which can even link to your own site. Eduard explains.

Dutch People search engine wie-o-wie.nl restyled their website and added new features. The changes are being discussed but also some possible legal consequences.

Nu nog een eventuele vervanging voor Adsense maken (dus dat publishers ads kunnen plaatsen tegen vergoeding) en het is helemaal top.

To translate for non-Dutch readers (most aren't Dutch ;)): Seth said: "Now make a replacement for Adsense (so publisher can place the ads and get paid) and its all perfect."

Rolf Broer, who works at Onetomarket, just released a very interesting article about Googlebot and its crawling capabilities. Rolf created several tests for the so called superior bot of Google to see how it reacts on particular setups of links and pages. Biggest takeaway is that you can use a Google sitemap to boost the crawlrate. But there is more...
