Shownotes Episode 3- september 3rd 2009 As usual in the first part we talked about what went on in the last week.
Halal search engine: A Dutch agency set up a search engine which warns you for non-halal results. An interesting way of filtering.

Rumour of the black / white people search There was a rumour Google was giving back a "Did you mean" which was kind of racist. The suggestion seemed to be true because an image circled round. But if that image was real...?

Loch Ness Munster found on Google Earth Google Earth is used for many reasons. One of them seems to be finding the Loch Ness munster. It was off course bogus, but a fun story!

Google's Power Google ran into some legal issues. In Italy Italian authorities are investigating Google and the German government actually filed a law suit in the US against Googles book settlement deal. We talked about Google's power and the privacy issues which you have with Google. Google just isn't replacable at the moment. Bing is not good enough in Europe to be the place to go when you are not with Google.

The second part started of with the Google subjects we talked about before the break. We talked about the possibility to register for Google Wave though it will take a while before we're getting it...

How SEO's do their job We then switched to how SEO's work. Lisa Myers wrote an article about an SEO Company in Norway who was selling Local Business listing and claiming they 'invented' Google Maps.
This resulted in a talk about what is ethical and what not. Also Roy noticed that SEOMOZ seemed to have 'copied' a tool made by SEO Book.
Finally there was an article by Shoemoney who discussed how SEOs work. We talked more about that.

Let's talk numbers In the final part we talked numbers.
Its the end of the month again (August) so some numbers are handed out again with search shares & stuff.
There were Comscore numbers: the global search market is growing, Europe accounts for most searches.
Statcounter showed there were no changes in search shares in Europe. IAB Europe then released numbers showing search is what keeps online advertising growing.
Finally UK newspaper the Telegraph released an interesting list showing which pages on Wikipedia are most visited on the english version of Wikipedia.
