The Pirate Bay wil 'pirateneiland'
ICT Columnist Herbert Blankenstein meldt in zijn column op BNR Nieuwsradio dat de downloadsite The Pirate Bay het eiland Sealand wil kopen. Sealand is een zelfbenoemd staatje op een oud booreiland, zes mijl van de Britse kust. In 1967 verklaarde Roy Bates zichzelf tot koning en het ‘staatje’ onafhankelijk. Nu zet hij zijn ‘land’ dus te koop. The Pirate Bay wil het eiland wel overnemen en vraagt op een speciale site om donaties aan gebruikers van hun website. In ruil voor de donatie wordt je een klein beetje eigenaar. Nutteloos, maar een leuke marketingstunt. (edit: niet nutteloos dus)
