Lavandera: Help Filipinos Organize the Laundry Industry
Losing clothes in a laundry shop is a global problem. The Laundrymen/laundresses somehow always manage to lose our clothes during the washing process. For those who live in the Philippines, I have a solution for you. Lavandera.ph offers a service where, not only you can find a laundry shop nearby, but also to keep track of the clothes that you submit to a Laundromat.
Lavandera is a Spanish word which means laundress or washerwoman. The website was created by Third Row and has just been launched last month on March 11th 2013. Jose Capistrano, together with his team, Cyd Magtalas and Hans Felerino came up with the idea when each of them had shared their frustrations over laundry shops which include clothe blunders and missing items. Although it has just been launched, Lavandera has covered more than 7,500 laundry shop in the capital city of the Philippines, Manila.
With Lavandera, both shop owners and customers can keep track of clothes. How does it work?
First, the customers can find a Laundromat through the search feature. The results will show the location of the Laundromats in the neighborhood, whether they are registered on Lavandera or not, with their contact numbers. Customers can then fill in a form which they can list the clothes that they are going to submit to the store. With that list, the shop owners can easily check the clothes before they return them to the customers.
Besides making sure there is no more clothe slip-up, shop owners can also connect with users on Lavendera, such as to update users about the status of their laundry, as well as receive pick-up requests or send notifications the laundry is ready for pickup.
This service is free for the laundry shop users. For owners, Lavandera offers two types of accounts which include the basic and premium services. For the first three months, laundry shop owners can experience their premium service for free. Afterwards, the premium service will cost them PHP 1500 (US$36.34), with some additional features such as no ads and access to laundry progress notification.
