Aaron Collins’ Last Wish Goes Viral

Aaron Collins from Kentucky got his last wish fulfilled by his family when they left a $500 tip to one of the waitresses at Puccini’s Smiling Teeth restaurant in Lexington. The clip of the $500 being handed over went viral after it was uploaded on Youtube last week Wednesday. In less than a week, Aaron’s family and friends received around $30,000 in donations to continue what is known as Aaron’s Last Wish.

Aaron Collins passed away on July 7th 2012, just three weeks after he turned 30. In his will, he asked to repay all debt he owns from his parents and to leave a tip to a waiter or a waitress. “Leave an awesome tip (and I don’t mean 25%. I mean $500 on a f***ing pizza) for a waiter or waitress” he wrote.

However, Aaron did not leave much. Therefore, to make his wish come true, his family and friends created aaroncollins.org, a foundation to help the family raise donations in order to fulfill his wish.

After the first $500 has been collected, Aaron’s family and friends went to have pizza at Puccini’s Smiling Teeth restaurant in Lexington, where Sarah Ward, one of the waitresses there, received the first $500 tip. “My brother passed away late last week and his last wish – he didn’t have the money to take care of himself so we took donations - he asked that we go have pizza and leave the waiter or waitress a $500 tip” said Seth Collins, Aaron’s brother, to the waitress. This sweet moment was captured on camera, which later went viral on Youtube.

So far, this video has reached more than 1,8 million views and has brought more than $30.000 in donations for the family! The donations did not only come from the US but also from Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, and even Russia.

Yet, it is not the first time a waiter/waitress received a generous amount of tips from customers. In May 2012, a waiter in Houston received a $5.000 tip from a couple who were regulars at the restaurant. The couple learned that the waiter’s car was destroyed after a big thunderstorm in the area, so they left him “some” money so that he could buy himself a car.

Thank you Aaron for making others happy :) You will be missed by the world!
