Ahold buys Bol.com for €350 million Dutch retailer group Ahold is acquiring Bol.com, the largest webshop in the Netherlands, for €350 million, the two companies announced today in a press release. Online world picked up the news immediately, and once again Twitter seems to be the fastest one. The first tweet about the acquisition was posted at 7:04 by @hold_thepresses, who published the press release, and was followed by an explosion of retweets, articles and blog posts. In the Netherlands Ahold owns Albert Heijn, Etos, Gall & Gall and albert.nl which provides online retail and delivery for the three stores. With Bol.com joining this collection of strong brands, the Ahold group will be covering a huge segment of online retail ranging from food and personal care products to books and electronics. So should we expect a Bol.com tab to be added to albert.nl homepage? ![]() Comment |
