Spread the word – get a reward
When I think how many new apps appear on the market every day, sometimes it seems that this is it: all imaginable brilliant ideas have been invented, implemented and sold. Guess what? No they haven’t. Here’s one that will make you think – “How come nobody has thought of this before?”
A new startup called Buzzdoes came up with a way to promote apps using word-of-mouth. The idea behind it, summarized in the tagline Spread the word – get a reward, is to let users recommend the apps they like to their friends, and reward them with cash or other incentives each time a friend downloads an app they recommended.
Developers who want their app promoted in this way pay a one-time fee to opt-in, and then Buzzdoes charges them 25 cents (or more) every time the app is downloaded through the link in the recommendation (part of this amount will be used to reward the user for a successful recommendation, and part is the profit of Buzzdoes).
To me, the idea seems brilliant. Besides, Buzzdoes has lots of potential clients: practically all the apps that don’t have a chance to get to the top of rankings could use some world-of-mouth promotion.
