Paper’d: What Does Your Wallpaper Say About You?
A new iPhone app was launched yesterday, called Paper’d which offers you free professionally designed wallpapers for your iPhone. According to the website of Paper’d, the characteristics of the wallpapers are unique, hilarious, creative, and it is all about YOU (Yes, you! We! … as if the wallpapers are “personalized”! Duh!)
The founders of this app are Jamie Varon and Nicole Antoinette. Jamie was previously known for her website back in 2009, TwitterShouldHireMe.com (the site is not online anymore). Yes, she was the girl who wanted to work for Twitter so badly, that she created that site. The result? She got invited to have lunch with the Head of Recruiting of Twitter where she also got a tour around the office? Did she get a job? Unfortunately, no; but she had her 15 minutes of fame on CNN and even an invitation for a job interview at Google. And look at her now, she becomes Co-Creater, Designer, and Creative Director of Paper’d!
Another interesting story about the two founders: they found each other on Twitter! So once again, it proves that social media is not only about stalking and spamming, but also to connect people with the same interests and goals.
But what makes this application stand out? You probably think “I can just download some pictures and use them as wallpapers!”. Well, according to Jamie Varon on her interview by Mashable “People don’t need this app, but it will be super fun to have. We’re passionate about design, and these are things people will look at and say ‘That’s cool!” That is not very convincing, is it? To help her a bit in promoting her app, the wallpapers that Paper’d have are professionally designed, trendy, and fit your personality. You’re welcome, Jamie& Nicole!
