Nokia trying to rival Google Maps

Nokia is feeling the 'pain' of the big companies heading into their fields. The Scandinavian company was market leader for a long time but has been challenged by companies like Apple and Google. Both companies with originally a different background than mobile entered the mobile market with phones and applications which has revolutionized that market.

Now Nokia is fighting back. With new phones off course, but also with new applications. This week Nokia introduced a new service which should rival Google Maps on the mobile: Good things.

This service in Ovi Maps asks users to add points of interest to the map. Based on location-based services users can then find interesting hotspots near where they are.

With Ovi Maps you can lan trips, search for addresses and points of interest, and save them on the Ovi on your desktop or mobile. That makes it a direct competitor of Google Maps.

The service is available in 25 countries, including the major European countries.
