Bing thinks Bruce Lee went to Sunderland

It's the transfer period in Europe. Players are changing football teams almost daily now. The transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United to Real Madrid was probably the most talked about. The most remarkable one was spotted yesterday by Hit Search on Bing: Bruce Lee to Sunderland.

Yes, Bruce Lee, the ever fighting karate-expert. He went to Sunderland? Well not exactly, but Bing made a typical search engine mix up.

Bing thinks Bruce Lee went to Sunderland

Bing has xRank, a module in which 'follows' celebrities and ranks them in order of popularity. This popularity is based on Bing search queries. “xRank Today” shows the top 10 movers on Bing xRank of the last day. xTreme Movers shows the fast movers up or down in the list. Today somehow Bruce Lee showed up in this list as one of the highest climbers.

This was to say the least surprising because there was nothing going on with Bruce Lee. Usually celebrities move up when something is happening which concerns them.

What was going on? It turns out Bing mixed up a couple of results. Sunderland FC manager Steve Bruce was trying to sign a new player, his name? Lee Cattermole... Hence Bruce Lee...
