Microsoft and Dell to close deal on Live Until now Dell computers were pre-installed with Google as the default search engine. Apperently this is going to change in the near future. Dell is about to close a deal with Microsoft to have Windows Live Search installed as the default browser. Both companies do not yet want to comment on the upcoming deal, but sources say the deal will be closed by the end of this year. Last year Microsoft made a similar deal with Lenovo. Microsoft has a history of pre-installating software on pc's and laptops. The pre-installation of Internet Explorer has led to many discussions in the European Union in the past. In that discussion Microsoft claimed Windows could not be delivered without Internet Explorer. The deal between the two giants is part of Microsofts strategy to gain ground in the search-market and is one of the bigger investments Microsoft makes in this area. Dell and Microsoft are already working together on several other areas, for example the partnership for supplying Microsoft-software. Comment |

Hi Henk, it is not yet clear which PC's will pre-install Chrome. Vendors such as Dell, HP, Acer and Toshiba are showing interest in a pre-install agreement though, but for now its just talks.
