Microsoft not intending to pay NewsCorp

The rumor was nice, Microsoft was supposed to be in negotiation with News Corp and other publishers to pay them for getting the sites out of Google. None of this seems to be true however, if we can believe Microsoft Presidents at conferences.

At a Credit Suisse conference Yusuf Mehdi, Microsofts Senior Vice President for online audiences stated that Microsoft is focussing on improving their own products.

He stated Microsoft does not intend to pay publishers to take away their content from the competition. At the Bing new features demo, where AllthingsD reported on another Microsoft SVP, Satya Nadella, hinted the same way:

"We’re not as focused on getting exclusive content… There is no real intent here that is focused on getting a whole bunch of content that is de-indexed from Google."
