Bing taking its time to roll out in Europe, France is next

Today at the International Search Summit Peter Maxmin the Director responsible for Bing Search as well as Microsoft's Online network across EMEA had 20 minutes to talk about Bing.

In his presentation he showed some of the nice features Bing has with which it will try to get market share away from Google. They seem to have succeeded with that a little in the US, in Europe Bing still has to come through. Maxmin addressed that topic shortly. Bing will integrate in Europe step by step.

France is the first country in which Bing will be rolled out in the near future. According to Maxmin that is because Microsoft already has a big market share in France. Not just with their search engine, but for example MSN is very popular there. After France Germany is up.

Maxmin couldn't say how long it will take before Microsoft will launch "the real Bing" in other countries. There is no time line to be given but Maxmin stressed Microsoft chooses to do it thorough and good in stead of fast. The risk of being 'too late' they are willing to take.
