Google on fire
Fri 28 August 2009 14:19, Bas van den Beld
An interesting sight it was yesterday. The Google offices in London caught fire. Daily Telegraph reporter Jon Swaine saw it, reported it and made pictures of it.
On the pictures you can see a fire on the roof of the building on Buckingham Palace Road. The fire was out pretty quick. It turned out to be a fire caused by a barbeque...
On Twitter and in the comments on TechCrunch UK the fire caused a lot of smart comments. Some comments were for example:
"Those crazy guys from Google Labs…" "But its not on the street… You’ll have more chance with Google Captain Birds Eye view" "Apparently googlers have a…. burning desire to compete with Microsoft." "Will we see the ‘e’ in the Google logo become a burning cheeseburger?" "Google Wave coming to Rescue" "Google UK staff forgot to Google how to barbecue"
And I especcially liked these: "A UK Googler searching for a fire extinguisher, found 3 in Aus, 1 in NZ & 1 on eBay, till friend pointed out where they were" "Apparently Google employees searching for a fire extinguisher found 1.4 million results in 0.23 seconds" "Google forgot to install a firewall"
And off cours spoofs were made right away: thanks to Robin Wauters of Techcrunch
