3D videos in YouTube

Wed 22 July 2009 14:05, Editors

YouTube is testing out a new feature, 3D Videos. With this feature you can upload videos with different layers so it can be watched in a 3D mode. The video below shows an example of this feature.

If you go to the original video in Youtube, in a drop-down you can choose the way you want to see the 3D like red/cyan and amber/blue 3D glasses. There are even a couple of options which don't require glasses, but the effect without the glasses is much less impressive. To enable the 3D player, you need to add a tag to one of your videos: yt3d:enable=true.

The new feature is part of the 20% rule Google has for its employees. Therefore the developer warns for bugs. Since the announcement many have already uploaded 3D videos. Be warned though: some are fake and 3D glasses really make a difference.

    Hey Guys,

I know of an Israeli Company named "Taatua" that has been developing such a 3D solution for real time systems.
I have seen a few samples and the result is surprisingly really good.
Has anyone else heard of them?? you can check their website at www.taatua.com, not much there but contact info.
