Now US Maps showing up in UK results

On Twitter yesterday someone stated that "Google UK has gone B-O-N-K-E-R-S" when referring to the local buttons being removed from some UK - Google Interfaces. At that time he didn't know he would be surprised again later that day when US maps started showing up in UK pages.

Dave Naylor posted the issue on his blog. What happened? When searching for "driving lessons in Hull" in the UK SERPS Google gave back a UK result. However, the city visitor link linked to Hull Place StLouis, USA. A clear mixed up.

UK results were mixed up with US results a couple of weeks ago. Now Google is mixing up Maps. What is going on? Where is Google heading with this? It is not clear whether or not this has to do with a default in Google Maps or that this is related to the mixing up of US and UK results earlier. For now, it's the next 'hick up' Google has made in the UK within a couple of weeks. Where is this heading?
