Googlers cycling Europe

No, it's not a matter of financial cutbacks at Google. But don't be surprised when you see Googlers cycling around Europe making pictures for streetview.

Streetview has stirred up a lot of conversation since the Streetview cars entered the European streets. In England they wanted to stop Streetview but couldn't and in Greece they actually did. In other countries the discussion was mostly about the privacy-issue. Celebrities didn't want to be photographed in Holland and people were scared Google would take a picture of the inside of their house. Now Google has bikers strawling the European streets.

So why the bikes? Do they want to be able to quickly escape those crowds objecting to them making pictures? No, the answer is quite simple: streets in Europe can be very small. And the Streetview cars can't always reach every street.
