YouTube and Sony join forces in Interest based advertising

Only a couple of weeks ago Google announced it would be using YouTube for introduction of a 'new' way of looking at contextual display ads. Today Google shows us how it works. Together with Sony YouTube has set up a 2 months during campaign.

The campaign will be run in nine countries at the same time: UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Russia and Sweden. It will consist of multiple homepage take overs, brandchannels and InVideo Ads.

Sony is the first advertiser YouTube is performing these beta tests with. Using the new mastheads and expandable formats Google says its the biggest YouTube Homepage-take over in EMEA so far.

The campaign will be running at the same periodes as the quarter, semi - finals and final of the European Champions League are played.

Benjamin Faes, Head of YouTube and Display, EMEA says: "We think its great to have this ambitious campagne on YouTube running all across Europe. Sony and their agency OMD have chosen to use the most advanced formats... They are making use of the new advertising possibilities of YouTube: Interest based advertising."

A short preview of what it's going to be like can be seen at the beta-page Google opened.
