Google updates Insights for search

Google has updated some features of their Insights for Search program. The service now has, amongst others, categories and sources you can search in and you can add related searches to iGoogle.

The changes Google has made were done around the same time as they introduced the longer snippets and better search refinements which Barry blogged about last week.

Categories
You can now narrow data to specific categories, like finance, health, and sports. This can make it easier to look for trends like for example 'premier league matches'in the UK which is stored in the categories Sports and Entertainment.

Sources
Before trends was only looking in the main index. Now Google has added a filter which makes it able for a user to see the insights of the vertical parts of the search engine, you can look through web search, image search, news search and product search.

iGoogle
To make it easy to monitor different searches Google has now added the opportunity to add the "Top searches" and "Rising Searches" to your iGoogle page so you can see any changes right away when you login.
