Google flags Pirate Bay as malwareSections of the torrent website The Pirate Bay have this weekend been flagged as malware by both Google and Firefox. Pages were blocked by Google because apparently the pages were trojaned. TorrentFreak talked to Peter Sunde to find out what was going on. He said at the time they didn't have any idea what was causing the problems. The idea is that it's caused by ads from third parties. Comment |

Solved? Earlier this month I was browsing TPB using Firefox 3.6. An unauthorised popup opened (despite the fact I have them turned off) to http://uqwaaa.in/cgi-bin/gjj, which redirected me to another page on the same site. I later found that during the same minute a firefox extension calling itself "XULRunner" and claiming to be an official Mozilla extension had been installed. The purpose of the extension appears to be to occasionally redirect clicks from google search results pages to pages of advertising. The problem still seems to be very real, and TPB need to sort out their 3rd party advertising policy if they want to keep user trust.
