Google killed the analytics cat?Recently some searchers from the US reported that Google is testing the implementation of AJAX technology to the SERP's. Where the use of AJAX could be a huge step forward in speed and user experience, it could be a killer for analytics and ranking software. I won't got to much in dept on the technology issues on this, Search Engine Land already did a great job on outlining the impact of this possible implementation. What this discussion does make even clearer, is the enormous power Google has to influence complete industries. If Google wants to be evil the value of analytics and ranking software could be devaluated within seconds, not to mention the impact it will have on SEO. They won't take this step (in my opinion they're not evil), but sometimes it's frightening to see what power they do have. CommentRelated tweets

I really hope they won't take this step, otherwise performance based analytics (at least on organic keywords) will be pretty screwed up. But if ajax really helps to cut some of the costs for Google it might be implemented.
When looking at some more recent events, Google is getting more commercially focussed.
