Chrome 21 with Integrated Support for Mac's Retina & Gamepad

Google has just released an update of its increasingly popular web browser, Google Chrome. The new update is called “Chrome 21”. Some improvements have been implemented in this new Chrome, such as integrated support for microphones and Mac’s retina display.

The latest version of Chrome supports the HTML5 feature: getUserMedia API. By using this API, Chrome 21 can capture the high quality input from your camera and microphone without having to connect it to plug-ins. Now Mac users can also use features from Mac’s ‘Photobooth’ on Chrome 21 (before, such applications were only supported by Opera 12 or Safari). The getUserMedia API also allows Chrome 21 users to experience other new fun apps: Webcam Toy and Magic Xylophone.

In addition to the getUserMedia support, Google has also implemented more features in Chrome 21, such as:

High resolution retina displays supports for Mac users
Better integration with Google Cloud Print
Improved support for gamepad. As it was stated in their blog, “The Gamepad Javascript API helps developers access input from any standard gamepad connected to the user’s machine, creating a richer gameplay experience with these controllers.”

Sketchbots Experiment

The Chrome Web Labs has also recently launched the “Sketchbots” experiment. This experiment allows users to take a picture of your face, which will be converted to a line drawing and sent to a “robot” in the Science Museum in London. The so called 'robot' will then draw users’ portraits in a patch of sand, while the whole creation process can be streamed LIVE through Youtube. Fun fun fun!
