Google’s New Privacy Policy

Internet privacy has recently become the hottest topic worldwide. Not to be outdone by the news, Google announced a big change in their privacy policy last Wednesday, which will be effective on March 1st 2012. The new policy, according to Google, will ensure that users get better service, more relevant search results and ads, quicker and easier ways to share content and last but not least better ways to connect with people. You can find the preview of the privacy policy here.

At the moment, Google has approximate 70 different license agreements from all of its products, such as: Gmail, YouTube, Android, and other services. This new policy will therefore ensure that all agreements are covered in one simplified document in order for users to easily understand what they are signing.

However, there are three highlights from Google’s new privacy policy that users might fear:

  1. Google will “stalk” us on every search query
  2. Google will collect even more of our personal data
  3. It is impossible to opt out

Basically, those are the same fears that most users have towards mega-social-media, Facebook. But do you think the new privacy policy will overstep the privacy itself? We shall wait and see.
