Pagerank is dead, but updatedPagerank is dead, that's what many (want to) believe. But no-one at Google has 'officially' declared Pagerank dead so far. Google doesn't think Pagerank is dead probably, since just before the end of 2009 they decided to do another Pagerank update. Comment |

What do you think will happen when Google declares PageRank as being dead? What other index will the majority of people star using? mozRank? or the SEOMajestic rank maybe?

I'm not saying Pagerank IS dead. Don't shoot the messenger ;). Pagerank is by many regarded as not important anymore for rankings. You can agree or disagree, but Google has not hinted directly to that direction by declaring Pagerank "dead".
If they would people would find other ways of measuring the way they grade sites. But Google will not declare it dead I think, even because it would kill their branding. But Pagerank will not be the leading factor of rankings anymore. You can see that happen in social and real time search.

PageRank is no longer used as a ranking factor in the algorithm. As a matter of fact, the 'number' itself may as well never been used as a ranking factor.
It has always been a number that states the quality of your backlinks. In the early days the quality of a single backlink (high pagerank) was of importance to your rankings, but nowadays also relevance, the total number of backlinks, diversity in domains that contain backlinks, etc. plays a much more important role in the algorithm.
